5 Ways to Turn your Bathroom into a Spa Retreat

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

After a stressful day of our daily routine, all we want is just a little relaxation to soothe all our worries away. Going to the spa on a daily basis might not be feasible due to time and money constraints, so why not just invest on turning your own bathroom into a spa-like retreat? Check out these ideas below:

Consider All Your Senses
Start with neutralizing the things that might stress you out first. Loud noises from construction down the street or neighbors? Include white noise or soothing music to cover up sounds you don’t want. Hate the overhead light in your windowless bathroom? Bring in candles. Source: ApartmentTherapy

Arrange Artfully
Consider your counter: Are your beauty and hygiene supplies just strewn about randomly? If so, adding a few small trays can mean the difference between a mess and an artful arrangement. And don’t write off apothecary jars just because they’re a cliche — they’re a beautiful way to display the small but necessary items that often come in gaudy packaging (cotton balls, q-tips). Source: ElleDecor

Reflect Nature with Materials
N
atural textures like wood and stone breathe life into a bathroom. A pebbled tile floor feels amazing underfoot.  If a new floor is not in your budget anytime soon, treat yourself to a pebble bath mat. Source: Houzz

Just Add Flora
A simple potted plant or two can change the whole mood of a bathroom. Look for something that’s OK with moisture and low light, like an orchid or a begonia. Source: BirchBox

Steam Saunas and Showers
Warm, moist air has soothing qualities. But forget the crowded gym sauna or steam room. Install one at home for privacy and convenience. Special pre-fabricated steam shower units trap billowing steam and set your stress free. Source: WebMD

4 Sauna Safety Tips for Beginners

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

Whether it’s at a professional health spa or at home, a sauna offers a variety of major health benefits. Despite the many benefits, it also comes with its share of dangers. Below are 4 of the most important safety tips to keep in mind.

Drink Plenty of Water
You will be sweating heavily in a sauna, so be sure to drink plenty. Water is probably best for you, but beer and cider is what Finns enjoy the most. Roasting sausages either on open fire or in tin foil directly on the stove is another key part of the sauna experience. Source: VisitFinland

Skip the Creams, Lotions, and Jewelry
Metal heats up fast in saunas, so while you might go in looking fashionable, you’ll leave with painful burns. If you have any jewelry, take it off, and put it in a safe place. Do not take it into the sauna with you. You also don’t want to wear any creams or lotions. If they don’t run with your sweat and make an oily mess, they will clog up your pores and keep your skin from breathing and sweating. Source: WikiHow

Wait an Hour After a Meal
Saunas increase the flow of nutrients (glucose, amino acids, fatty acids, and oxygen) via the circulatory system. While it may seem like the perfect time to be pulling in more via digestion, the reality is that digestion gets put on the back burner while the circulatory system ramps up nutrient delivery to the muscle and skin. For that reason, it’s best not to eat a heavy meal right before stepping into a sauna. If I’m hungry I opt for a light snack, then eat when my session is over. Source: MommyPotamus

Don’t Go Too Hot
For a far infrared sauna , most people set the temperature for anywhere between 100-140 degrees. If you are a beginner, and particularly if you are not in great health, you’ll want to start at 100 degrees or less. This way you’ll give yourself a chance to get used to the heat.
It’s okay to get into an infrared sauna 10-15 min. after you’ve turned it on, even if the temperature is not up to your target temperature yet.
It doesn’t take longer than that for infrared sauna heaters to warm up, and once they do, you’ll be getting the infrared heat effect. The infrared-emitting heaters will be on continuously until the heat gets up to the temperature you set.
For a traditional sauna, most people set the temperature for anywhere between 160-200 degrees (come back for our upcoming Finnish saunas page). In this case, you’ll probably want to wait until you’re within 5-10 degrees of the temperature you’ve set it at to get the full effect throughout your whole home dry sauna session.
Remember that heat rises, so choose whether to sit on an upper or lower bench (or change positions) accordingly. Source: The-Infrared-Sauna-Effect

4 Popular Types of Bathroom Sinks

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

There are various designs to choose from when it comes to selecting your bathroom sinks. In choosing the right sink, one has to consider not just the added value to the overall aesthetic of the bathroom, but also its functionality. Below are 4 of the most popular types of bathroom sinks and their features:

Ceramic Basin – BA139

Vessel Sink
A vessel sink is one that generally sits completely on top of the countertop, although there are some models that sit partially below the counter.

  • Pros:Unlike most other sinks that are exposed above the counter a little or not at all, vessel sinks demand attention and are a great way to create a statement in your bathroom. As the name suggests, a vessel sink is basically like a large bowl, so it is a great choice if you like a deep sink that can hold plenty of water.
  • Cons:Due to the height of vessel sinks and the way they sit above the counter, careful planning of the counter height, and of the height of the cabinets below, is required to ensure that the sink doesn’t end up being too high and uncomfortable to use — this often leads to less storage space under the counter. Cleaning around the base and back of the sink can also be a bit tricky.
  • Good for:En suite bathrooms. Source: Houzz

Drop-In Sink
The drop-in sink is often called a self-rimming sink or surface mounted sink and is typically installed in a vanity counter top. This style sink is very common to older and newer construction and remodels alike. These sinks can be installed into any type of counter top including plastic laminate, stone, tiles or synthetic composite tops such as Corian® or Silestone®.
These sinks have a lip that is over-sized to the hole and they simply “drop in” a counter top and are pressure fit to the top surface with a clamp system from underneath.
This creates a self-trimming installation without the use of a frame. The bathroom sink itself is typically made from porcelain enameled cast iron or vitreous china. (Kitchen sink versions are often stainless steel). Plumbing waste and supply lines are concealed in the vanity base. Source: HomeRepair.About

Wall Mounted Sink
Wall mounted sinks
are affixed to the wall and work well in small bathrooms, allowing for usable space below the sink. Even if there’s only room for a wastebasket, the space that it offers gives the bathroom a larger visual feel. Some wall mounted bath sinks feature a decorative cover that’s installed over the plumbing and drain pipe. Source: Home-Style-Choices

Undermount Sink
Installed underneath the countertop, undermount sinks are growing in popularity because they’re easy to clean and offer a seamless appearance. Set beneath marble countertops, this bathroom’s white basin sink gives the space a clean-cut, contemporary feel.  Source: HGTV

Clarks 2

Bonsoir! Or should I say good evening everyone. Felt like giving you all a bit of news as I’ve been mingling all over the place lately. Life has been good, as always taking me on some endless wicked rides that I enjoy so much. It’s hard to stop when you start, trust me. Although I just came back from some intense trips, and more precisely and absolutely magical experience in Paris with Victoria’s Secret that you’ve heard all about on my social media, before hand I took some time off in Los Angeles to gather my thoughts together and plan the next goals, trips and to get a clear mind, ready to welcome new ideas in. It’s so important to put ourselves in the right situations where our mind is receptive to new ideas. Our mind is like an ocean, and ideas are like fish. If we don’t actually put ourselves in the proper situation to catch them, we won’t even notice them swimming around. I am talking about the constant noise of the world. I am sure you all have experienced it. Being constantly surrounded by people at home, at work, at school, at the train station. It’s at times hard to focuses and nurture organic, fresh, thoughts. It almost sounds like I’m talking about growing tomatoes haha! But trust me, your mind is like a garden that needs constant care and attention to have it’s most beautiful flowers flourish.

I am lucky enough to have always appreciated solitude and have expressed myself about it many times. Although many people attach to it a certain negative connotation, I think having the ability to appreciate solitude, especially for someone creative, is terribly nurturing. And the reason is that once you are confronted with your only self, your truest self, uninfluenced by the noise of the world, that is when the most brilliant and precious ideas immerge. It’s by taking time to experience these moment that is important too in order to be then inspired by the world with a fresher outlook on things. Because if we never clean up our heads from all of it’s accumulated mess, we might not be sensitive enough to capture the essence of an idea when we’re watching a movie with friends, or having a great conversation. This is why in between two big trips, or after intense periods such as fashion weeks, I like to isolate myself in a little bubble and take the time to write, read, day dream. I let my mind loose, I let it run free. It’s like opening a window after a long day and letting a soft breeze in. There’s no better feeling.

At first, being so comforted to our selves might appear frightening as these are the moments where we truly see through our souls. We’re able to travel through our minds into the darkest places of our consciousness. But as we all know, there is no light without dark ness and even in the deepest oceans, one can find the most beautiful hidden treasures. One should never be scared of diving deep within. It is only when you make peace with all your layers that you’ll be able to explore your mind, like an ocean, in it’s entity. And that’s when you’ll be able to explore and play not only with your light, but also use your pains, your doubts or fears and turn then into their own, special flowers. Many people have been coming to me, people I know from the fashion industry, distanced friends, to tell me how surprised and intrigued they are by my shift in imagery on social media. I guess most people check my Instagram mainly. Kayture has become more like my diary where I share a bit of myself with you all when I feel like it and where I hope to post beautiful inspiring pictures. It is funny how the way we portray ourselves on social media does say something about ourselves. It’s like fashion, it’s all a matter of choices, of ideas, of colors. It’s a way of visually saying something, exteriorizing a part of us we want the world to see in order to become the very manifestation of this idea. I guess from the moment my hair went dark, a lot of people that used to have a certain idea of me got all of a sudden shaken up. As if the person they knew so well was gone all of a sudden.

I do love the idea of transformation, of a metamorphosis. To me, it’s the natural path of evolution. We all change, the person we were an hour ago doesn’t exit anymore. We are in a constant state of development which to me is the most beautiful, exciting and fascinating part of life. In only speaks about how limitless we are, especially from within. How far we can go with our minds, how much we can do, so much we can be. I’ve been trying to dive each day into myself deeper and deeper and once you come to an understand of yourself, you truly feel like you can be anything. Like nothing is impossible. Because your core self, your awareness of who you are is so strong. It let’s you explore the world, and swim within your own mind with so much freedom and such little fear. I’ve been approaching everything with a different perspective because that’s also another thing you realize. Everything is a matter of perspective. How you see the world, what you think of your friend, how a certain color speaks to you, will be different as the hours of life move on. Because each experience, conversation, or even thought can alter your initial opinion about something. And thus, we should never take anything for granted, or put anything, or anyone in a box. It would be so diminishing. Instead, we should expand our minds and think beyond. What excites me most about this, is that it is an endless quest and each period of our lives will teach us something, so there’s always something to look forward to. Any experience will tell a story. It is your ability to have enough clarity to seek it’s potential that’ll be important to carry you through the waves, even the biggest, most challenging ones.

I obviously have been working on music non stop. My dream of it becoming a priority in my life has become progressively a reality as I notice that my time spent, whether it in real life or simply on my mind, is directed towards music. I go to the studio, I write 24/7, I think about it all the time. It’s bringing so much joy and passion into my life that I have days where I feel like I don’t want to share it. I don’t want to show it to the world because yes, I am afraid of sharing something so special and important to me. But that is why I want to take the time to make it as strong and indestructible as possible. So that once it’s out there, nothing can destroy it and it’ll live on it’s own. I’ve always promised you guys to stay true to myself and i believe that it is exactly what I am doing. I honestly couldn’t live anyway else. So I dive into work, I dive into myself, I dive into so many different places and try to grow beautiful flowers in the form of songs that I hope 2017 will fully allow me to share with you. But patience. For now.

To end this article on a lighter note, I’d like to share with you some pictures Cibelle and I shot during our stay in Paris a little earlier this year. It was the day right after my 23rd birthday and I had so much happiness filling my heart. Not only was I in my favorite city in the whole world, but I was surrounded by my closest friends who showed me so much pure love. It was a very special trip that humbled me beyond words. The next day, we were just hanging out in the city, getting lost in the little Parisian streets, wandering around looking for the best spot to have an allongé and people watch so we decided to pause for a second and shoot these images. The outfit is quite incredibly simple, in fact I even stole this bomber from my one of my best friends (merci mon Jerem, je te rend ta veste asap) but I am sure he wouldn’t have minded but the whole accent is on the boots. I’ve been sporting these babies for a while now and they are so incredibly comfy and I think look great with so many different outfits. They are from this awesome brand Clarks that I’ve been working with for a while and I had the pleasure of getting these from them. They’re perfect for a day out and about in a big city like Paris where comfort and an effortless mood are such sweet feelings. I hope you guys will enjoy this series of images, it was so good getting to write to you all a bit. I will speak to you very soon. Until then, I’ll see you on social media xx

4 Tips to Prepare Your Bathroom for Winter Months

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

Winter is on the horizon. If you haven’t prepared your bathrooms for cold weather, now is the time. Here are some tips to help you prepare your bathroom for the upcoming winter months, including: checking windows and pipes, adding some heating, setting the mood & winterizing your toilet.

Below are 4 tips to prepare your bathroom for the winter months:

Check Windows and Pipes

Bathrooms can be draughty places, so it’s a good idea to check your windows for cracks and reseal any worn silicone. It might also be a good idea to check your pipes for cracks and leaks, as well as ensuring all your pipework is properly insulated. By ensuring there are no problems in your bathroom to begin with, you can avoid small problems getting bigger down the track, which can often happen in winter with frozen pipes causing expensive issues. Source: BathroomCity

Add Some Heating
Is there anything more unpleasant than having to make a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night, only to discover that the entire room is freezing cold?  You can avoid this unpleasant scenario – to a point, anyway – by adding a heating element to your bathroom during the winter months. If your bathroom doesn’t already have its own heat source, add a space heater or other portable heating device that can be switched on to heat up at least part of the room as quickly as possible. Source: AmericanBathInd

Set the mood
Speaking of simple swaps, trading out bathroom accessories to fit the season is a great way to change the look of the bath. Display cozy, plush robes to keep bathers warm when stepping out of the shower and make guests feel right at home. Consider installing robe hooks close to the shower door for easy access. For added flair, incorporate accessories such as towels in a festive pattern, splashes of gold in soap dishes, or hints of bronze in candle holders and picture frames. Source: WaynecoJournalBanner

Winterize Your Toilet
You may be unaware that you can winterize your toilet and prevent this fixture from freezing during cold weather. In fact winterizing the toilet is quite easy and does not take much time at all to complete. This process involves using plumber’s antifreeze, which you can buy at most home improvement or hardware stores.
Before you pour in the antifreeze, you should first empty the water out of the back tank. Once the water is drained, you can then pour in the antifreeze and then flush it into the bowl and drainage system. After you flush, you should then pour a half cup of plumber’s antifreeze into each sink, shower, and tub in your house. This step winterizes the entire drainage system in your bathroom. 5 Tips to Keep your Bathroom Warm This Winter

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

It’s easy to bundle up to keep yourself warm when it’s winter cold. But when it’s time to step into the bathroom, just the thought of it already gives you chills. Here are 5 things to do so you can make your bathroom experience warm and cozy despite the cold weather:

Efficiency Check
If your bathroom feels chillier than the rest of the house, the windows may be the culprit. Perform a quick test to see if your windows are letting in drafts by holding up a piece of tissue around the perimeter—if it moves, you have an air leak. Caulk around the window to prevent future air flow. Source: BobVila

Consider a Home Sauna
Historically much more common in countries like Sweden, saunas are becoming more popular in the States. Source: Houzz

Buy a Rug
Make sure it’s a rug made specifically for bathrooms, but not a plastic bathmat. Try to get a soft one, so it’s comfortable to walk on. Make sure it’s absorbent. Source: WikiHow

Install a Steam Shower
When your muscles ache or you’ve just braved a day filled with snow and slush, wouldn’t you love to treat yourself to an herb-scented steam bath? It’s possible to bring this health club experience home by transforming an ordinary shower stall into a rejuvenating steam shower. You can buy a steam-generating system for about $2,500, plus the cost of re-tiling and installing a steam-proof shower enclosure. There’s plumbing and electrical work involved, so you’ll need to hire pros for this job. Once installed, you’ll find your steam shower to be a relatively frugal energy consumer: A 20-minute steam bath requires about 2 gallons of water — a fraction of the 50 gallons used by a water-saving showerhead in the same time frame. Source: Bathrooms.About

Warm up your Towels
Heated towel racks are a quick and easy solution to warm things up. Just imagine stepping out of the shower to a nice warm towel. You can either install the rails, or have a freestanding rack, making this approach the simplest and most practical step towards a warmer bathroom. Source: Lifestyle

3 Benefits of Infrared Saunas Compared to Traditional Saunas

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

Can’t decide which type of sauna you’d like to purchase? Here are 3 benefits of infrared saunas over the traditional ones:

Far Infrared Sauna – BS-9225

Health Benefits
An infrared sauna looks similar to a traditional sauna except there aren’t any hot coals since the heat is emitted from the built-in infrared heaters, which are located in the sides and the top of the sauna (don’t worry, they aren’t even hot to touch). Unlike a normal sauna that heats up quite quickly, relaxes the body and opens up the pores for a serious sweat session, an infrared sauna safely penetrates deep into joints and muscles with the same rays that come from the sun — minus the UV radiation. Source: PopSugar

Power Needs
Another difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna is the amount of power required to operate each unit. Traditional saunas require more overall power to run, with a typical sauna taking up 6 kw of power in comparison to the typical 1.6 kw needed for the infrared sauna. This means that a traditional sauna is almost three times as expensive to run as an infrared sauna. This can make a difference, depending on how often you use the unit. Source: Livestrong

Comfort and Safety
Conventional saunas operate at extremely high temperatures which may be unsafe for the very young or elderly. Further, surfaces in a traditional sauna can reach temperatures that can cause burns. Infrared saunas achieve the same benefits at far lower operating temperatures. Due to the harsh operating conditions in a traditional sauna, a sound system to enjoy while you are relaxing in your sauna is out of the question. On the other hand, you can enjoy your favorite music in an infrared sauna. Source: Evolution Health

IL SOGNO ITALIANO

_DSC5816

Oh Italy, sweet, sweet land of the pasta, the pizza, the gelato and the tiramisu… Sweet land of the people speaking with their hands, the limoncello after dinner and the cute little old men on their vespas with their bright colorful socks and the chicest glasses you’ve ever seen. Oh dear, my love for Italy is unconditional. It just warms my heart to be able to enjoy some time there occasionally. Now that I live in Los Angeles, coming back to Milan brings me back into past, when I used to come every other month by train from Geneva’s train station and drown for a few days into Italian culture. I can’t really do that anymore, there’s no train to take me there, only a 13 hour plane. But it makes each trip nonetheless even more special. This one reminded me exactly why I love Italy so much and why I’m so proud and appreciative to be European. As we were walking in the little streets of Milan on our way to get gelato dressed in our Dolce Gabbana post-show outfits (by the way, in my opinion the best gelato in Milan is this if you haven’t tried yet. They fill your cone with melted white or dark chocolate… and it’s h-e-a-v-e-n. that’s how you get some of em’ Italian curves to fill these Dolce bustiers) I couldn’t help but get my heart all warm and tingly at each step we made. The view of the city, the architecture that had lived so many stories and seen so much, people walking everywhere, biking, running, dancing, singing on the lively Piazza Del Duomo, all of this just brought me to a level of happiness that’s hardly describable.

I was so excited to work again with Dolce & Gabbana for the opening of their new boutique in Milan and show after all the wonderful collaborations we’ve had in the past. It was like going back to my roots. So heart warming. Yes, throughout this article you’ll understand how warm it all felt. Love and warmth. Dolce was in fact one of the first biggest fashion shows I’ve ever attended and I remember how excited I was, not really understanding what’s happening to me. The Dolce Vita… Dolce Gabbana breathes life. It’s one of these brands that’s so independent and alive on it’s own. It’s colorful world, all the Italy inspired patterns celebrating the cultural heritage of the country, the lively shows, it’s people, it’s joy, it’s love, it’s fun. The show itself this year brought pure joy, with Italian street dancers at the beginning of the show who warmed up the crowd and brought humanity back at the core of fashion. Sometimes, fashion feels so cold, unwelcoming… As if fashion wasn’t for people anymore. Unattainable. Dolce give fashion back to people. I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to see the front row clap and shake it’s shoulders, people’s faces light up. That’s what a show should be like. The shows aren’t anymore like they used to be… With a true story, a pure live art performance. It’s all business now. Simple and efficient. To the point. Rare are those who actually touch you. A collection can be of course beautiful, but isn’t the purpose of a show to demonstrate the nature, the story of a collection? Dolce Gabbana did that perfectly. Bringing us all back into the animated, lively streets of Italy where people dance, sing, drink with pretty Italian girls walking by and the boys contemplating in awe. What a pleasure… what a refreshing pleasure. This show made my season.

Needless to say, I was also so excited to wear Dolce Gabbana and embrace the word woman. Fact is, Domenico and Stefano know how to create clothes for women. They embrace women, they love women, they make them feel like it. When you wear Dolce, you feel like a queen. Thus the crown. You feel beautiful, confident and powerful in your own skin. And there’s no better feeling than this. This feeling of being celebrated. That’s what I love the most about fashion. No matter how strong our minds are, fashion is always there to give us an extra push of confidence. To become who we want to be and manifest it in reality through a part of ourselves, our appearance. Body speaks to mind and vice versa. When you wear something so flattering and gorgeous, you can help but place your mind in a whole different place. You exude something new. It’s just a little push in the right direction. While choosing my outfit for the show, I had the pleasure of discovering their new boutique on Via Montenapoleone which seems to come out of a fairytale with it’s sculptural stairs, green marble and magical tapisseries. It’s everything you could ever dream of which makes it such a special experience from the moment you step inside. Jewels, shoes, bags, gowns, pajamas, anything you wish for is here. And everything made out of the most ravishing materials with the signature Dolce & Gabbana design. I felt like a little kid in a candy store, completely loosing my mind at the idea of so many treasures around me.

After the show, we had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the most lavish, and utterly glamorous Dolce Gabbana dinner as Stefano and Domenico made the impossible happen. They managed to shut down Via Montenapoleone, which as you might know is one of the busiest shopping streets in Milan to organize an enormous dinner for their guests. A dinner made of an abundance of Italian delights and people dressed in the most gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana creations. I felt like I was in a dream to be totally honest. It was one of the most special moments of this fashion week. It brought me back into an older Italy where people would have these giant feasts in the middle of the streets, dance, drink and just enjoy life to the fullest. It very much had this God Father feeling to it, everyone dressed so fabulously with such glamorous decors… A pure Italian fairy tale. So to honor this experience, I am excited to finally be able to share with you this editorial we created with Cibelle to portray the “Sogno Italiano”, the Italian Dream. Because this whole adventure, really felt like a dream. Sweet, warm and magical.

This month we are focusing on what it means to detoxify the mind and body as you give back to your health through natural healing. Infrared heat not only helps detoxify the body and mind by pulling out heavy metals and chemicals, it does so while promoting relaxation. This deep detoxification is shown to help kill cancer cells, enabling you to experience a long lasting health!

According to Cancer.gov, “In 2016, an estimated 1,685,210 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 595,690 people will die from the disease.”

Cancer affects people all across the globe. You may even know a friend or family member who is experiencing this serious health issue. In improving your health naturally, infrared heat is precise and proven to help prevent or reverse cancer cells from becoming deadly.

infrared saunas for treating cancer and autoimmune diseases

When treating cancer, heat treatments are often used because when the body experiences high temperatures, it creates hypothermia, which affects the cells of the body and eradicates cancerous cells, according to Cancer.org.

However, these heat treatments that are often abrasive end up hurting normal cells. Dr. Irvin Sahni from Baylor College of Medicine, states that infrared heat is different in that it increases the body temperature without exposing it to negative and harmful ultraviolet spectrum. Infrared heat selectively kills off the cancer cells while normal cells are able to withstand the heat and remain unharmed.

Improve cancer remission and elongate your wellness journey by using infrared heat as a part of your regular health routine. Detoxify the mind and body by getting back to nature and heal from the inside out. To find out how you can gain natural healing contact us today and start receiving the many benefits of your infrared sauna

Say Goodbye to Crow’s Feet – Treating Crow’s Feet with Botox

Your eyes speak volumes about your age. As we get older, we start to see the signs of aging, especially around the eyes. Crow’s feet, the lines that form around your eyes when you smile, can begin to show permanently on your face, even while you are resting. Whether you are a man or a […]

Top 5 Bathroom Design Trends for 2016

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

When it comes to home remodeling projects, bathroom upgrades continue to dominate. With so many resources and choices out there, it can be overwhelming to sort through the different options and styles on your own, so here are the top 5 bathroom design trends for 2016.

 Wood
“Timber will continue to flourish in the bathroom,” says Andrew Crawshaw, director of design at Smarter Bathrooms. “The release of new purpose-designed timber products enables us to bring its natural warmth into a previously timber-tabooed space.”
If you’re interested in working wood into your bathroom, take a cue from this striking example and consider using the material in unexpected ways, such as on the wall or as a sink. Source: Houzz

In-Floor Heat and Towel Warmers
There are two types of radiant flooring, electric and hydronic (water). Electric mats are easier and less expensive to install because you don’t need a separate system to run the heat, they can run off your home’s electrical system. Hydronic systems need a separate power source, like a heat pump to run the water through the pipes.  A hydronic system is more expensive to install, but in the long run, it is more affordable to operate.
Either way, radiant floor heat works best with natural stone and tile because their thermal properties hold the heat better.  Source: DIYNetwork

Trough Sinks
Don’t let the name fool you; a “trough sink” is more elegant than it sounds. Some people would refer to this as a “double sink.” It’s basically an extra long sink that’s big enough to serve both you and a significant other if you should both happen to be trying to get ready to go somewhere at the same time.
A trough sink is configured differently than the double sinks that were so popular in the 1980s. Back then, it was trendy in some areas to have two separate sinks incorporated into the same vanity.
Trendsetters and early adopters were already aware of trough sinks as of late 2015, but we expect to see more mainstream interest in the trend in 2016. Source: DecoratorsWisdom

Moroccan Style
Burdus loves the personality of a pattern and predicts Moroccan-style patterned floor tiles with plain tiles on the walls will be big in 2016.
After travelling to Marrakesh, Davison says she is “a bit obsessed with Moroccan Tadelakt in bathrooms. This is a seamless waterproof render you can use in showers and even form baths from. The result is soft and luminous, a bit like the inside of a seashell. I find it creates a much more relaxed feel than tiled walls with grids of grout.” Source: Domain

Smart Appliances
This year, technology will continue to spread, all the way to our bathrooms. This is no surprise, considering we already have phones with voices and coffee makers with alarm clocks. When it come to the bathroom, smart appliances are designed to make self-maintenance a little simpler.
For example, hands-free faucets will allow users to wash their hands without turning a handle. It will work entirely by sensing the motion of the hands. This is not only more sanitary, but also easy and fast. While this design is commonly seen in commercial locations, it will become more popular for home installation as 2016 continues.
