INDIO

_DSC0025

Well, it has been less than a month and here I am popping for you not one, not two, but yes 4 articles in April. I have to say, I am kind of proud! As you all know, I’ve been taking some time off the blog to focus on music but writing has always remained an absolute necessity for me. So even though there were months were I would show no news, and disappear from the landscape, I still feel the need to keep coming back here. Kayture has become a home by now and it always feels so good to have this platform to connect with you all, to share and express everything freely. I hope that’s what here feels to you to this day too, a bubble of escape. A little glimpse through a window.

Most of my writing lately has been done for music purposes but I’ve also been doing a lot of personal writing, poetry, quotes, small essays… All different things I keep to myself for now while waiting for the right time to make something out of it all. That might be why my articles on here where a bit shorter, less intricate as they sometimes (mostly often) are. Which actually might be a good thing, I’ve had several people come up to me asking me how in the world I was able to come with such dense, and heavy subjects. It feels good to write on a lighter note though. And the reason is that I’ve been pouring so much of myself into my music development that I feel completely emptied out by the end of each session. Any thought I had, any idea, any word would all serve the creative process. So by the time they are out of my system, I am completely drained. It feels like I’m almost too tired to even speak as everything that needed to be said has already been. So I just let the music speak for itself.

I also started appreciating writing smaller format texts. Like short poems that within 4 sentence resume an entire feeling, and entire experience, a whole story even sometimes. It strikes the heart, the root of the thought and in a brief moment brings total clarity on a perspective. I love how poetry speaks on it’s own and makes it’s own way in people’s mind. We each have our own interpretations based on our own experiences. I love this idea of letting something out of ourselves and allowing it to make it’s own path. We often have such a personal attachement to creation, we become possessive with it and won’t let anyone else have it. But the beauty of art is the collectivity. Building momentums, visions, inspiration, thoughts that will eventually lead into new questions and new art. each artist serves it’s time, thus art is limitless and evolves in cycles. Those who keep their precious creations to only their own will never know the joys of giving birth to an idea that can then lead to another, completely independently. It’s perhaps the closest we can get to selflessness and perhaps even immortality in some way. To me, creating is like giving birth. It’s a way of leaving legacy behind, marking our time, and giving something that’ll outgrow our own selves. Allowing life to take it in and become part of the bigger picture.

With this being said, it was absolutely fantastic to be back again this year in Palm Springs for the 2017 edition of Coachella with Revolve. It is always such an inspiring time with so many fantastic performances to assist to and overall energy that is just so uplifting and contagious. Over the years, Revolve has become like a second family for me in the US as I’ve known their team for over 5 years now and have witnessed their incredible growth. It is always so heartwarming to be a part of such evolution and watch your friends succeed at what they love. The whole Revolve team is inspiring in that way, their work hard / play hard motto has never been more true and they keep proving it. This year not only did they bring people from all over the world in but they also created a whole Revolve hotel for us all to stay in and hang out before hitting the festival. Needless to say, it was a real party spot with music bouncing from 9 till 10pm and everyone hanging out while looking more sharp than ever. Here’s a little article relating some of the looks I wore during this week-end that Cibelle and I shot around .All details of outfits will be linked bellow. Hope you guys will enjoy! x

BATES

L1080517

Hi from sunny California. I hope all of you guys are well and enjoying the delicate rays of spring sun light and getting physically and mentally prepared for summer approaching. My friends and I just got back home after a wild Coachella week-end where all we did was dance, sing and just simply, enjoy. It was the perfect amount of good energy to infuse into our currently busy lives where lots is changing and forever evolving. Having spent a good amount of time in Los Angeles, I am preparing for a few intense months of work in Europe, with some very exciting trips ahead which I am looking forward to tell you more about when time comes.

I wanted to share with you all today an article as I recently partnered with Michael Kors to try out their mini 70 Instax Polaroid camera which is part of their collaboration FujiFilm. This is their second camera to launch, now available in this exclusive metallic silver which features the Michael Kors logo and the designer’s signature. It’s the perfect little accessory to keep close when you’re travelling and want to make sure to capture certain precious memories. And of course, as anything Michael gets involved in, it’s design is super sleek and modern which goes along pretty well with his latest collection which I am wearing in this editorial. We shot these images at the Bates Motel in Silver lake, Los Angeles, which I highly recommend for anyone to visit and see as it is an entirely white painted abandoned hotel with white palm trees in a lovely area, right next to the CafĂ© Stella and some other cute little Silver Lake shops.

Hope you guys enjoy this and I will talk to you very soon again!

x

Wilmar Residences – Storied West Side Vancouver Estate Redevelopment

Artist rendering of Wilmar Residences aerial view.

At a Glance

  • prestigious Southwest Marine Drive location
  • 1.95-acre estate lot
  • 5 luxury single-family residences
  • heritage mansion duplex conversion
  • beside esteemed country clubs & golf courses
  • near top-rated private schools

Elite Heritage Estate Community
The Wilmar Residence is one of Vancouver’s most important grand estate houses. Built in 1925 for Willard Kitchen, the director of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, it was designed in the Tudor Revival style by the prominent architectural firm of Benzie Bow. All of Kitchen’s children and grandchildren were raised in the house. His youngest daughter, Gladys, became one of Vancouver’s first female barristers. Her daughter, Judith Jardine, a well-known supporter of the city’s arts and heritage communities, lived in the house her whole life. She was the last heir to the property and passed away in 2006. Consequently, the estate has remained remarkably unaltered from its original construction. Due to its storied history and good condition, the Wilmar Residence is listed on the Vancouver Heritage Register.

To preserve the Wilmar Residence and coach house, Coromandel Properties, in partnership with Stuart Howard Architects, is redeveloping the estate to maintain its economic viability. The mansion will undergo extensive restoration and transformation into a grand duplex. Five new infill homes will be constructed with design elements, massing, and scale to fit contextually with the existing Wilmar Residence. They will be sited to give the impression of a series of cottages surrounding a multi-use garden access space with a driveway meandering through the middle. Wilmar’s landscaping is an important aesthetic feature. Historical plant material will be salvaged and reused where practical. New landscaping will filter views of the infills and complement the existing buildings.

Pricing for Wilmar Residences
Wilmar is currently in pre-construction. Subscribe above to our VIP list to ensure priority notification of availability, pricing, and other updates for this rare opportunity.

Floor Plans for Wilmar Residences
The Wilmar redevelopment proposes five new luxury single-family homes, ranging from 3,600-3,800 sq ft, and the conversion of the heritage mansion into a duplex consisting of one 4,500 sq ft residence and one 5,200 sq ft dwelling. Serious buyers should contact me immediately to indicate their interest in evaluating plans when available.

Amenities at Wilmar
The upper floor of the restored coach house will be available as a shared amenity space to supplement the private rec rooms in each home. Residents will also enjoy the tranquility of Wilmar’s heavily-landscaped grounds, either from the comfort of their own private patios or when strolling the historical trail system along the escarpment at the southern end of the property.

Parking and Storage
Each residence will have its own private, enclosed garage with additional room in the common driveway for uncovered visitor parking. Ample storage space is available in all homes, as well as individual laundry rooms.

Maintenance Fees at Wilmar Residences
TBA.

Developer Team for Wilmar Residences
Coromandel Properties is a commercial and multi-residential property developer that works with clients and communities to create inspired environments. They combine the latest advances in technology, while being sensitive to the unique nature of each location and the responsible use of resources.

Stuart Howard Architects have been chosen to design the redevelopment of Wilmar Estate. They are committed to creating high-quality, cost-effective, innovative design solutions for their clients. Over the years, the firm has been involved in many building types with a strong emphasis on residential buildings, and heritage restoration and rehabilitation. Various members of the firm are multiple award winners in residential design.

Coromandel has retained Toronto-based Cecconi Simone Inc. to design Wilmar’s luxurious interiors. Since 1982, the multi-disciplinary interior-design practice has met with continued success, creating award-winning interiors for the retail, corporate, hospitality, and residential sectors in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Cecconi Simone’s wide-ranging work reflects a “whole design” philosophy in which a cross-pollination of design experience leads to a deeper understanding of how people live their lives and the design needs that arise from those lifestyles.

4 Tips for Repairing a Leaky Shower Faucet

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

A leaky shower faucet could potentially be costing you money on your water bill. Thus, to help you out, we’ll discuss 3 tips for repairing a leaky shower faucet below. Read on!

Remove the Handle
Start by removing the faucet handle. Methods for doing this will depend upon the faucet’s design. Older or simply-designed faucets often have an exposed screw front and center or a locking screw in the side. Newer and more decorative models of faucets hide the screw beneath a cover cap. With these, you need to pry off the cover cap to expose the screw. If your faucet handle is the type with a cover cap and there is no obvious method of removal, use a very thin screwdriver or pocketknife to pry the cap off. Be careful not to scratch the finish or damage the material. Source: HomeTips

Remove the Cartridge

  • The cartridge is a large ring that is adjacent to the wall. It will be exposed after you remove the faucet handle.
  • Use a cartridge puller. This can be found at a hardware or home improvement store. Source: wikiHow

Install the New Cartridge
Turn the hex screw by hand until it bottoms out. Snug up the hex nut by hand and tug on the cartridge puller handle. If the cartridge won’t pull out, hold the puller handle steady and tighten the hex nut two full turns. Pull the cartridge out of the faucet body. Buy an identical replacement cartridge, align it properly and reassemble the parts. Source: FamilyHandyman

Clean and Reassemble
Before putting the shower stem back, take the opportunity to clean any junk from the pipes. Put the shower stem back into the pipe in reverse order from how you took it out. Use some faucet grease and apply it to the faucet stem threads. In order to prevent damage, re-caulk the faucet plate. When completely finished, don’t forget to turn your water back on. Gateway to Vancouver
The nearby master-planned community of Collingwood Village, built by Concert Properties, is considered a model transit-oriented development that has delivered on expectations for the developer, transit authority, municipality, and the community. However, this did not lead to redevelopment of the area immediately surrounding the Joyce-Collingwood Skytrain station. Now, the City of Vancouver’s Joyce-Collingwood Station Precinct Plan seeks to address this in conjunction with TransLink’s planned upgrade of the station to improve service, add capacity, and accommodate future B Line service to UBC. Joyce by Westbank will be a prominent landmark in the quadrant immediately surrounding the station, helping to create a stronger, more cohesive neighbourhood.
